The M.J. Duke's Story
M.J. Duke's is the creation of two long time friends with years of resturaunt experience and a shared passion for great food. Our hero, Pat Olivieri, started selling cheesesteaks from his modest hot dog stand in the City of Brotherly Love in 1930. A few years later, cheese was added and the famous Philly Cheesesteak was born. Today, Pat's King of Steaks serves delicious Cheesesteaks twenty four hours a day, and counts many known names among its customers.
Now M.J. Duke's brings Cheesesteaks, we think would make Pat proud, to Connecticut. Our steaks are cut fresh in the kitchen from the highest quality sirloin. We wouldn't dream of using frozen pre-portioned meals like many of our competitors, because the flavor is just not the same.
Although Connecticut has some of the best bakeries in the world, their bread just wouldnt't do justice to an authentic Philly style Cheesesteak, so we insist on using Amoroso hearth baked bread that we import straight from Philadelphia. We think that you'll agree that it is a perfect foundation for a delicious Cheesesteak or other hot M.J. Duke's sandwiches.
Like our beef, all of our other products are the best of their kind. Our chicken comes fresh from breasts, never frozen flavor-injected ones that have become so common today. Our french fries are cut from whole fresh pototoes right here on premises. Our soups are made from scratch. Even most of our salad dressings are whipped up in small batches by our skilled chefs.
So, while we may server our food fast, it's the farthest thing from fast food. We invite you to experience the difference our passion makes and to help us spread the tradition that Pat Olivieri started so many years ago. After you eat one of our sandwiches, we think Pat will be your hero too.
